Meet Chef Johanna - Certified Professional Chef

Greetings. I am a lover of great food, rich flavors and nutritionally rich ingredients. My interest in cooking started at an early age, when my mother left me in charge of making the family dinners. While my mother was of the generation of using packaged, highly processed and refined ingredients, I knew that food should and could taste much better, especially with natural nourishments. I started experimenting with recipes, different ingredients and unique flavor profiles, finding my own way to make great food and share it with others. My passion was born and now cooking and feeding others has been an active part of my life for over 30 years.

After recently retiring from a long career in elementary education, I finally have the time and energy to pursue my dream as a chef. I quickly jumped into the Natural Chef Program at Bauman College in Berkeley, California. This experience and education has enhanced my abilities and skills as a certified professional chef, as well as fundamentals in nutrition through its restorative cooking classes. It also gave me the focus needed and business skills to launch my next career as a personal chef, dedicated to clients with special dietary needs and unique challenges.

As a teacher, who knows how to plan, execute, and instruct others, I also see the value of teaching my clients how to best meet their own dietary challenges and become more competent and confident in their food choices.

Johanna is a member of the Bauman College alumni which continues to support its Natural Chef graduates. She also is a member of the premier national personal chef organization USPCA and is a demonstration chef for the appliance brand Thermador-Bosch. Locally, she is a part of the Bay Area Personal Chef Network.
